Evil: Bible Verses about Evil – The Bible, the world’s oldest book and the foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith, has much to say about what it considers evil. In the Old Testament, evil is primarily defined as any action or thought that goes against the will of God, who is the ultimate source of good.

In the New Testament, Jesus teaches that evil is not only a lack of good, but is an active force that seeks to harm and destroy people. The Bible also states that all evil comes from the devil and his minions, who seek to lead people away from God’s love and goodness.

In addition, the Bible also condemns evil actions such as murder, theft, and other wicked deeds. Ultimately, the Bible teaches that evil is something to be avoided and that people should strive to live in accordance with God’s will, in order to receive His blessings.

1. Romans 12:9 – “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”
2. Isaiah 5:20 – “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”
3. Proverbs 16:29 – “A man of violence entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good.”
4. 1 Peter 5:8 – “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
5. James 4:17 – “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”

10. Colossians 3:5-6 – “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.”
11. 1 John 3:4-10 – “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
