How To Become the Person You Were Meant to Be?

As a General Rule God wants his children to develop and become what they were meant to be. Spiritual Beings temporarily in a physical body (tent). We value Love, forgiveness, peace, Following Gods Plan for our lives will allow us to fully develop.

How To Become the Person You Were Meant to Be?

We all want to live authentic lives where we are our real selves and do what we love. Because of this, people are looking for ways to become who they were meant to be. Like with everything else, we have to go back to the Bible and see what God says about who we are. In this article, we will look at how to become the person you were meant to be.

Who are you meant to be?

Many of us grew up being told who we were supposed to be instead of who God created us to be. We ended up living lives that lacked meaning and fulfillment. This does not have to be our story going forward because we have the Word of God to give us answers. The Bible shows us how we can become the person God wants us to be.

When we get saved we have a new identity in Christ. This is the person we are meant to be, and it is God’s will for all of us in the world. Below are 3 Bible verses that show who we are.

3 Bible verses that show who we are

1 Thessalonians 5:23 – May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God created your spirit, soul, and body. You are more than your physical body, and this is a truth you need to hold on to daily. You connect with God in your spirit; your soul contains your mind, will, and emotions; and you use your body to move around.

Psalm 139:14 – I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

God tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that is how we should see ourselves. This does not change even when we make mistakes or are not our best selves. This is a Bible verse that you can meditate on and remind yourself that you are God’s wonderful creation.

John 1:12 – Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…”

When you get born again, you become a child of God. Jesus gives us the right to become children of God when we believe in Him and make Him our Lord and Savior. As children of God, we are entitled to the benefits of the Kingdom of God, which is not available to those who have not accepted Jesus.

What does the Bible say about becoming new?

How To Become the Person You Were Meant to Be? The Bible tells us that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. It goes on to say that the old has passed away, and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means that when we become believers of Jesus Christ, we become a new creation, and we leave behind our old selves. We are transformed by the power of Christ, and we become righteous before God. As believers, we have a new life in Christ, and we can live godly lives the way God intended for us from the beginning. The person we become after believing in Christ is known as our identity in Christ.

As a new creation in Christ, God forgives our sins and cleanses us from unrighteousness. We are redeemed from the Kingdom of Darkness, and we now belong to the Kingdom of Light. We have a new life that is different from the one we lived before we got saved.

God gives us spiritual wisdom when we become born again. This is a wisdom we cannot access while still unbelievers. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says that the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God because they sound like foolishness to him, and they are spiritually discerned. We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit when we get saved, and we have access to the wisdom of God.

How do we become more like Jesus?

Jesus is the perfect example of how to live life. He lived a sinless life and he demonstrated that in everything he did. Jesus said, “I have come so they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 13:13). We all want more out of our lives than what we are currently experiencing. God desires for us to have the abundant life that Jesus talks about. We must put God first and our lives will be filled with purpose, love, joy, and peace (Galatians: 22-25).

Jesus demonstrated what true humility is all about by washing his disciples’ feet. He knew he was better than them but he humbled himself and served those he had created. He was obedient to God’s calling on his life even though it meant suffering and death (Philippians: 21-29).

Jesus also taught us about unconditional love through how he interacted with others. His greatest teaching is the Lord’s Prayer, which instructs us to pray for our enemies. Jesus even loved those that hurt him and sent his disciples out to do the same (Luke: 11-37).

We become more like Jesus when we put God first in everything, having an attitude of humility, loving unconditionally, and doing what is right at all times. When we align ourselves with these qualities then our lives will be filled with purpose and we will experience the abundant life that Jesus talks about.

It begins by believing in Him. – We must come before Him, through His Son Jesus Christ, and ask for forgiveness if you have sinned. – This is how it all starts!

We become like Jesus when we walk like He did while on earth as 1 John 2:6 tells us. Jesus modeled for us what a life lived for God looks like. He also taught us how to live in the 4 Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The temptations in the world sometimes make us wonder whether we can become more like Jesus. What we need to remember is that God helps us live a righteous life, it is not something we can do in our strength.

What are Four steps we need to become the person we were meant to be?

For us to become the person we were meant to be, we have to turn to the Word of God for wisdom. The Bible shows us who we are meant to be, and how we are to live our lives. Below are three steps we can take to become the person we were meant to be.

1.     Accept God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. When we get saved, we begin a journey of becoming who God created us to be. We do this by believing in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins, and confessing that He is our Lord and Savior. This opens the door to a new relationship with God where He begins to reveal who we are.

2.     Meditate on Bible verses that show who we are in Christ. God shows us who we are in His Word, and we need to meditate on it, and align with who He says we are. Our identity in Christ makes us children of God, more than conquerors, kings, and priests, the redeemed of the Lord, among other attributes.

3.     Pray for God to make us more like Christ. After knowing who we are in Christ, we can pray and ask God to help us. God hears our prayers and when they are in His will, He answers them.

4.   Follow Where He Guides. We can follow where God leads us, and He will make us more like Christ. When we are willing to do what He wants for our lives, this is when we become the person that we were meant to be.

Final Thoughts

God’s Word describes who we should be through many different attributes such as: children of God (John 11:52), emissaries of God (Romans 15:16), bearers of Christ’s name in the world. We should strive to become more like Jesus by reading His Word, meditating on it, and praying for guidance from Him daily!

When we follow these steps, we can begin a journey towards becoming who God created us to be. Becoming our best selves is all about knowing who we are in Christ, and following God’s will for our lives.

If we want to become the person we were meant to be, we must have a relationship with God. It is in this relationship that we get to know our real selves, and not who others told us we should be. Each of us is unique and has a God-given purpose to fulfill on the earth. Once you are clear on the person you are meant to be, you can live the abundant life that Jesus came to give you.
