Should a Preacher Tell You Who to Vote For?

Can a Preacher Tell You Who to Vote For_

Should a Preacher Tell You Who to Vote For?

Should a Preacher Tell You Who to Vote For? We hold our preachers in high regard because they preach the Word of God to us and help us understand it. They are our spiritual leaders, and we trust that they hear God clearly, and especially on our behalf. With elections coming up and with them many controversies, many believers are wondering if their preachers can tell them who to vote for.

The truth is that no preacher should tell you who to vote for.

Why? Because hearing God is the personal responsibility of every believer of Jesus Christ. The reason God put His Spirit in us is so that He can communicate with us, and we don’t have to rely on a third party to tell us what He is saying.

Should a Preacher Tell You Who to Vote For

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” –  John 14:26

The Holy Spirit who indwells every believer speaks to us and shows us what God wants us to do or not do. This means that when voting time comes, you can listen to who God is leading you to vote for. Over-reliance on others to hear God on your behalf will make you believe you can’t hear Him for yourself. Why would God tell your preacher who you can vote for instead of telling you?

Its also a Temptation for Preachers to use their influence to try to lead their flock, those who trust them, in the way they feel is correct. It is a wise Minister who realizes that he should not use that trust that he has the build to influence Voting. It is wise to spend time on Teaching His Flock in Learning How to Listen To God’s Direction.

It is hard for us to understand the full picture as God sees it. So Ultimately we need to use the wisdom and understanding God has given us. But Scriptures are clear hoe Christian is to view those in authority. (1 Timothy 2:2) “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men 2for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior”

God will tell the preacher who he or she can vote for, and if they have a prophetic word about a certain presidential candidate, they can say it publicly. However, at the end of the day, they can’t make you vote for the person God has revealed to them will win the elections. The only time a preacher can make public the Lord’s choice of a candidate is if God asks them to do so. A prophetic word is the message of God brought to the church by a believer, whether a prophet or preacher, and you can choose to act on it or not.

Learning How to Hears Gods Voice

Wisdom to Vote

God desires to give you the wisdom to vote so that you will make the right choice with full knowledge of what you are doing. What’s more important is knowing why you are choosing a particular candidate as opposed to being told who to vote for. At the end of the day, we are the ones who have to face the reality of the candidate we select, and we need to be wise when voting.

James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Where you need wisdom on who to vote for come elections, pray, and ask God to give you the wisdom to identify the right candidate. He will show you the qualities you need to look for, and what He desires in a national leader.

If you have heard a prophetic word about the candidate that God prefers, you need to test that word. The Bible tells us to test the spirits by which people speak so that we will not fall into deception. Many people have perished in cults where they believed their preacher’s word was the gospel truth when it wasn’t. This doesn’t mean that you should start suspecting your preacher for telling you who will win the elections, it simply means that you are to confirm prophetic words with the Scriptures.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1

If God wants to show you anything about a particular candidate, He will. Ask Him and He will tell you. When we get used to going to preachers to tell us what God is saying, we create a culture of spiritual dependency in the church. This weakens the church because we imagine that it is only preachers, pastors, or prophets who hear from God and the others don’t. This is not true because we have the Spirit of God that speaks to us as He speaks to our spiritual leaders.

How to be Led By God’s Spirit

How to Hear God for Yourself

Train yourself to hear God speak to you so that you will not rely on others to do so. When we depend on others, we become vulnerable to false prophets and teachers who feed us their false doctrines. They look for people who are unstable in their faith and lead them astray. These people are in the church, and you need to discern them before they deceive you with the twisted Word of God.

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” –  2 Peter 2:1-3

When God speaks to you, He confirms it through others who say the things He revealed to you. You will hear people use the exact words God gave you, and you will know that you are on the right track. Don’t worry about identifying the voice of God because He said that His sheep know His voice, and a stranger’s voice they don’t recognize (John 10:4-5).

Conclusion

Its also a wise thing to remember that our Citizenship is much larger than the United States, From Europe, From England, Japan, or China. We are part of a Kingdom that is not of this world. Our Kingdom will not end, our citizenship cannot be taken from us no matter what earthly Ruler might try to do.

This Wisdom should also be used when we are Choosing those who we would have lead us in God’s Kindom. Seeking His Guidance and listening to his Directions. Choices of

  • Preachers/ Ministers
  • Elders
  • Ministry Leaders
  • Very Important Decisions.

Instead of going to a preacher to tell you who to vote for, ask God to show you. He also wants you to make the right decision, and will, therefore, help you make it. He is ready to tell you great things you don’t know and all you need to do is call to Him. Take note of the ways God speaks to you so that you will clearly identify His voice and His presence. Happy voting! God Bless
