Later, when Ruth returns home with a full basket of grain, Boaz again demonstrates his generosity by giving her even more than she had asked for. He continues to show his kindness towards Ruth throughout the book, ultimately marrying her. In all these ways, Boaz displays the character trait of generosity.

Kindness:

Boaz treated Ruth with kindness, taking care of her and protecting her while she worked in his fields.

In the book of Ruth, we are introduced to a man named Boaz who is a relative of Ruth’s late husband. From the very beginning, Boaz is shown to be a kind and compassionate man.

He takes notice of Ruth when she arrives in his field to glean wheat and he could have easily ignored her or treated her harshly. Instead, he speaks kindly to her and ensures that she has everything she needs.

Throughout the story, Boaz continues to show kindness toward Ruth. He protects her from harm, provides for her needs, and even goes above and beyond what is required of him by marrying her. This demonstrates that kindness is one of Boaz’s defining characteristics.

As Christians, we are called to follow Boaz’s example by showing kindness to others, especially those who are in need. By displaying acts of kindness, we can reflect the love of Christ to those around us and make a lasting impact on their lives.

Compassion:

Boaz showed compassion for Ruth and her family by offering to marry her despite the fact that she was not a Hebrew.

The book of Ruth tells the story of a Moabite woman named Ruth who, after the death of her husband and sons, returns to her homeland where she meets a man named Boaz.

Boaz is a relative of Ruth’s late husband, and he takes her under his wing, treating her with kindness and compassion. One way that Boaz displays his compassion for Ruth is by ensuring that she has enough food to eat. In ancient Israel, it was customary for farmers to leave a portion of their crops in the field for those in need.

Boaz goes above and beyond this custom by specifically instructing his workers to leave extra food for Ruth (Ruth 2:15-16). He also makes sure that she is able to glean in his field, which provides her with an additional source of food (Ruth 2:8-9). Furthermore, when Ruth asks Boaz to marry her, he agrees even though she is not Israelite (Ruth 4:10).

This act of compassion demonstrates Boaz’s character and his willingness to love those who are not like him. Ultimately, through his acts of kindness and mercy, Boaz shows himself to be a man full of compassion.

Loyalty:

Ruth was loyal to Naomi, even after her husband died and she had to leave her home country.

Boaz was a man who displayed excellent characteristics throughout the Bible. One of those characteristics was loyalty. Boaz was a loyal kinsman redeemer to Ruth.

He could have passed her over because of her status as a Moabite, but he didn’t. Instead, he married her and brought her into his home. Boaz was also a loyal friend to Naomi. He listened to her story and comforted her in her time of need.

He showed her great kindness and took care of her throughout the rest of her life. Boaz was a man who was loyal to his family, friends, and God. He is an excellent example of what it means to be a loyal person.

Respect:

Boaz respected Ruth for her dedication to Naomi and for working hard in his fields.

In exploring the characteristics of Boaz, we see that he was a man who displayed great respect. He respected the fact that Ruth was a foreigner and did not take advantage of her situation.

Instead, he offered her his protection and told her that she could glean anywhere in his fields. He also showed respect for Ruth’s work ethic, praising her for her hard work. In addition, Boaz respected the rights of others, particularly the rights of widows and orphans.

He was willing to redeem Ruth from her husband’s estate, even though it meant giving up some of his own inheritance. As a result, Boaz provides us with a great example of how to show respect for others.

Humility:

Despite being a wealthy landowner, Boaz displayed humility by inviting Ruth to eat with him and his workers.

Boaz was a man who God greatly used. He was a wealthy man, a landowner, and from the tribe of Judah. He was also a relative of Ruth’s husband , Mahlon. Because of the death of her husband and father-in-law, Ruth was destitute and had to glean in the fields to survive.

The book of Ruth tells us that Boaz was a humble man. He showed humility by not exploiting Ruth’s vulnerability. He could have taken advantage of her, but he didn’t. Instead, he protected her. He made sure she was able to glean in his field and he made sure she was treated with respect by his workers.

Boaz also showed humility by not taking credit for his acts of kindness towards Ruth. He told her to stay with his workers and that he would make sure she was taken care of. Boaz could have taken all the credit, but he didn’t want the attention or the glory. He wanted God to get all the credit for His goodness. Lastly, Boaz showed humility by being faithful to God’s laws.

He resisted marrying Ruth until he had consulted with the elders and obtained their permission (Ruth 4:1-12). Boaz didn’t want to do anything that would disobey God or dishonor Him in any way. These are just some of the ways Boaz displayed humility. We can learn a lot from his example and strive to be more like him in our own lives.

Strength:

Although he was kind and compassionate, Boaz also had a strong sense of justice and was willing to stand up for what he believed in.

Boaz displayed his strength most notably when he intervened on behalf of Ruth. At the time, Ruth was a Moabite woman who had married one of Boaz’s relatives.

However, her husband died, leaving her without any way to support herself. Under Jewish law, Ruth had the right to glean grain from Boaz’s field in order to survive. However, she was treated harshly by one of Boaz’s workers. When Boaz learned of this, he intervened on her behalf. He not only instructed his workers to treat her kindly, but he also ensured that she had enough food to eat.

This act of kindness showed Boaz’s strength of character as well as his commitment to upholding the law. . Consequently, Boaz’s strength was both physical and moral. He was a man who was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in and fight for what was right.

Integrity:

Boaz was an honest man who did not take advantage of Ruth even though he had the opportunity to do so.

The book of Ruth is a powerful story of hope, love, and redemption. At the center of the story is Boaz, a man who embodies the qualities of faithfulness, kindness, and integrity.

In particular, Boaz demonstrates his integrity in the way that he treats Ruth, a poor widowed woman who has come to live in his town. Although he could have easily taken advantage of her situation, Boaz instead chooses to show her Acts 20:35 biblical hospitality.

He offers her food and shelter, and he protects her from those who would do her harm. In doing so, Boaz sets an example of what it means to live with integrity. He shows that even when it would be easy to take advantage of someone, it is always better to choose to do what is right. As a result, Boaz provides a shining example of what it means to live with integrity.

Faithfulness:

Boaz was faithful to both God and Naomi and remained committed to them even when it was difficult.

The book of Ruth is a love story, but it is also a story about faithfulness. Boaz is a central character in the book, and he displays faithfulness in many ways.

First, he is faithful to God’s laws. When he meets Ruth, he could have taken advantage of her situation and taken her as his concubine. Instead, he respected her and treated her with honor.

Second, Boaz is faithful to his family. He could have married Ruth himself, but he was aware of the law of levirate marriage and chose to honor it.

Third, Boaz is faithful to his word. He promised Ruth that he would marry her, and he kept his promise.

Finally, Boaz is faithful to the tradition of his people. He could have ignored the custom of redemption, but he chose to follow it and give Ruth a chance to have a future. Because of his faithfulness, Boaz was able to show God’s faithfulness to His people. In the same way, we can display faithfulness in our lives by being loyal to God, our families, our friends, and our commitments.

Wise:

Boaz was wise in his decisions, choosing to marry Ruth even though she was not of his people.”

Boaz was a man who was upright, just, and in right standing with God. He is noted as a man who feared the Lord, something that is of utmost importance. Because he had this reverential fear of God it meant that he also avoided evil.

The book of Proverbs tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. So, because Boaz feared the Lord he had a foundation of knowledge and wisdom to build on. We see Boaz displaying his wisdom throughout the story but one specific instance is when he tells Ruth to glean in his field and specifically invites her to drink from his water jugs.

By doing this he shows her kindness, protects her reputation and provides for her physical needs all while still keeping their interactions appropriate. This act also showed his concern for Ruth’s well-being beyond just the work she was doing in his fields.

Another way that Boaz displayed wisdom was in how he handled the situation with the other relative who had the first claim on Ruth. Boaz could have easily gone about things on his own and tried to claim Ruth for himself without going through the proper channels but instead, he took it to the town elders and waited for their judgment.

This showed not only respect for authority but also patience and trust that God would work everything out in His timing. Boaz wisely allowed God to work out the details and everything turned out exactly as it should have. Because Boaz displayed these characteristics of wisdom we can learn from his example on how to live our lives with wisdom.

If we have a reverential fear of God then we too will have a foundation of knowledge and wisdom to build from. We should also be kind, patient, and trust that God is working everything out even when we can’t see what He’s doing. If we live our lives Boaz then we can be confident that we are living wise lives that are honoring to God.
