  3. God desires us to forgive others. In Matthew 6:14-15, Jesus tells us, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

  7. Forgiveness is not forgetting. In Luke 23:34, Jesus says, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Jesus did not forget the wrongs done to him, but he chose to forgive them.
  8. Forgiveness is an act of humility. In James 4:10, the author writes, “Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up.” When we choose to forgive, we demonstrate humility and obedience.

If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’”
