Repentance: Bible Verses on Repentance
  1. Isaiah 55:7 – “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” This verse encourages us to turn away from our wicked ways and to come back to God, knowing that He is ready to forgive us.
  2. Matthew 3:2 – “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” This verse reminds us that the kingdom of heaven is near and that we must repent to be ready for it.
  3. Acts 3:19 – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” This verse shows us that when we repent and turn to God, our sins will be forgiven and we will experience refreshing from the Lord.
  4. Luke 13:3 – “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” This verse serves as a warning to us, reminding us that if we do not repent, we too will perish.
  5. 2 Corinthians 7:10 – “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” This verse shows us that Godly sorrow leads to repentance and salvation, while worldly sorrow leads to death.
  6. Joel 2:13 – “And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.” This verse encourages us to turn to God in sincerity and humility, knowing that He is merciful and will forgive us.
  7. Proverbs 28:13 – “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” This verse shows us that it is not enough to simply cover up our sins, but that we must confess and forsake them if we want to receive mercy from God.
  8. Ezekiel 18:30 – “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.” This verse reminds us that God judges us according to our actions, and that if we repent and turn away from our sins, we will not be ruined by them.
  9. 1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” This verse displays God’s faithfulness and justice in forgiving us when we confess our sins to Him.
  10. Acts 17:30 – “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.” This verse reminds us that God is calling all men to repent and turn to Him, no matter their past.
